THE BRUCE HAMMOND FUND

The Bruce Hammond Fund (BHF) is in memory of a member who passed away in a seizure.  Bruce's family donated money to Saskatchewan Epilepsy Inc. so members could go out and socialize as a group.  Bowling, coffee outings, summer barbecues, camp and Christmas events are just to name a few activities that members enjoy.  The Bruce Hammond Fund (BHF) is recognized annually at Saskatchewan Epilepsy's annual golf tournament with signage.

THE SAMPSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Sampson Memorial Scholarship is dedicated to post-secondary students of the immediate families who overcome barriers coping with the challenges of epilepsy.  The scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Paul Sampson and late wife Helen, who would not allow epilepsy to prevent them from achieving goals. A $1,000 bursary was established in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Sampson.  The Sampson Memorial Scholarship is recognized annually at Saskatchewan Epilepsy's annual golf tournament with signage.

Successful candidates must meet all of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Must have Epilepsy or in the immediate family, a doctor's letter must be provided.

  • Must be a permanent resident of southern Saskatchewan.

  • Enrolled in or accepted for full-time or part-time post-secondary studies in a College or University, accredited professional or apprenticeship training institution.

Candidates must demonstrate their determination and resilience in overcoming barriers and challenges related to epilepsy.  Academic strength, educational goals, communication skills, and involvement in raising awareness about epilepsy will be considered.

IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THE UNIVERSITY / COLLEGE / POST SECONDARY SCHOLARSHIP, GRADE 12 MUST BE MET WITH A MINIMUM OF 24 CREDITS, 8 MANDATORY CREDITS REQUIRED OF GRADE 12

POST-OPERATION NEUROLOGICAL COVERAGE

Saskatchewan Epilepsy Inc. will help cover the travel costs of their members who qualify for an epilepsy operation.  Saskatchewan Epilepsy Inc. will cover costs to a maximum of $1,000, paid after the operation is completed.  A letter from your neurosurgeon indicating such a procedure occurred is required.  The application form is attached.

SEIZURE RESPONSE DOGS

Saskatchewan Epilepsy Inc. will help cover the travel costs of their members who qualify for an epilepsy seizure dog.  Saskatchewan Epilepsy Inc. will cover costs to a maximum of $1,000, paid after obtaining the seizure dog.  Costs can cover dog leashes, harnesses, clothing and travel away from to obtain the seizure dog.  A letter from your neurosurgeon indicating such a seizure dog is required.  The application form is attached.

SASKATCHEWAN EPILEPSY CAMP FOR KIDS
